Hashim Naqui

Hashim Naqui has been registered as an architect and has worked in Dallas, Washington Metro area and since 1994 in Raleigh, North Carolina and has a home in North Carolina. He is currently located in India assisting SfL+a architects based in Raleigh, NC and visits the US regularly, twice a year for two weeks each trip.
- Registered with NCARB and member of AIA for more than thirty years, he maintains active licenses in several US states. He is also registered to practice across India and is a fellow of the Indian Institute of Architects.
- He passed all nine subjects in one attempt for his NCARB architectural registration exam.
- Hashim received his master's degree in architecture from Kansas State University, and was the topper in his bachelor's degree in architecture from Osmania University for all five years of his first professional degree.
- Has produced work worth perhaps $5 billion dollars for various American firms and projects within the United States and also has done work independently on his own in the United States and abroad.
- Project experience includes Institutional, educational (K-12), university projects, IT, pharma, bio-tech buildings and laboratories, hospitals, correctional facilities, shopping centers, large hardware and grocery stores, large parking garages as well as high end custom housing and residential apartments.
- Hashim has worked through the ranks, from being an intern architect in the US to managing large and sophisticated projects and has overseen the construction of several projects across several states.
- He started an office in India to assist O'Brien/Atkins as he wanted to attend to his father in India. He headed the India office for sixteen years (2000 to 2016), before he returned back to the United States.
- While in India, Hashim got projects for O'Brien/Atkins in India as well as in the Middle-East through his network of contacts. We did several hundred thousand square feet of work in India, mostly in biotech.
- For about two and half years Hashim also worked for the Department of Health & Human Services for the State of North Carolina in reviewing and permitting hospital projects, elderly care & nursing homes as well as home care facilities from 2019 to 2021.
- In 2021 he went back to India at the request of Robbie Ferris, the CEO of SfL+a Associates in Raleigh, NC and established an office in India once again, to assist them in producing drawings and renderings due to lack of available architects locally in Raleigh, during heavy work-loads. This work continues to date.
- Currently he has a trained new team of twelve architects who exclusively assist SfL+a for their projects, using Revit, BIM 360 and various rendering programs - along with a support team of nine persons who supplement the technical team from accounting to cleaning services.
- It takes five to seven years to take a freshly graduated architect and turn him/her into an independent professional with enough project experience, which is an ongoing process of dedicated learning.
- In the past the India team trained by Hashim produced the production work for the RDU airport, which was a 750,000 square foot, $1.2 billion project with a staff of eight persons, assisting O'Brien/Atkins, the "architect of record" with Freelon Group (now defunct). Fentress Bradburn was the design architect.
Project Experience
Airport and Transportation
Assisted O'Brien/Atkins in producing the construction documents for RDU International Airport from India in collaboration with American support.
Convention Centers & Public Buildings
Partially produced the CDs for this landmark project of Raleigh from Hyderabad, India.
Healthcare Facilities
Produced the construction documents with SfL+a for this project. Also worked on hospital projects in India. Know the FGI Guidelines.
Educational Institutions
Worked on K-12 schools and produced the CDs and renderings for several state of the art schools for SfL+a Architects.
Custom Residential
High end, sophisticated residential projects were worked on from SD to CD and produced renderings. Also did the drawings for two entire town developments for SfL+a Architects.
Biotech & IT Industries
For O'Brien/Atkins produced entire CD packages (except specifications) for biotech buildings, IT buildings and labs. Will need to train the current team for such work.
